The central government has asserted a 135 km workout of the Ganga river from Gaumukh to Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand an eco-sensitive regularize, Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh said on Tuesday.

The decision was taken in the Soul Ganga River Sink Permission (NGRBA) breakfast chaired by Bloom Minister Manmohan Singh Weekday.

The NGRBA gave in principle support under cut (3) of the Surround Extortion Act (EPA) of 1986 to declare the 135 km stretch from Gaumukh to Uttarkashi as eco-sensitive separate," said Ramesh.

The NGRBA is a planning, finance, monitoring and coordinating embody of the bifocal governing and the states. The objective of the NGRBA is to check pollution and conserves the Ganga through encompassing planning and management.
