GAIL starts building Karanpur to Rudrapur-Pantnagar Pipeline

State gas utility Gail India today announced it began construction of its natural gas pipeline Karanpur-Moradabad-Kashipur-Rudrapur-Pantnagar.

The pipeline is 182 km long Karanpur-Moradabad-Kashipur-Rudrapur-Pantnagar, said a company press release here.

The pipeline will tap from the cutoff of 24-inch pipeline Auraiya, Dadri Sahajahanpur-Babrala by Gail at Rudrapur to Karanpur-Pantnagar.

"The estimated investment for the project is RS 250 crore," he said. The design capacity of the pipeline will be 2.5 million cubic meters per day.

The pipeline will cross Badayuni Mora and the districts of Uttar Pradesh and Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand.

"The pipeline will supply gas to the plant near Kashipur in Uttarakhand and other industrial customers in Moradabad, Kashipur and Rudrapur and gas distribution in Moradabad town,"he said.

The line will be built in two phases. In Phase I of the project, 101 km of pipelines, is traced from Karanpur Kashipur.

The first phase is expected to be completed in January 2011, an estimated investment of Rs 196 crore.

In Phase II of the project, 58 km of the pipeline is drawn from the Pantnagar-Rudrapur-Kashipur."This phase of the project will involve an estimated investment of Rs 56 crore. The entire project is targeted to be completed by January 2012,"the statement added.
